    Forwarding to her daughter a parcel containing, the papers read by William Williams before the Committee, three letters from her father Henry Williams, papers relative to 'the abominable assertions of Mr Venn', as well as a broach and a knitted necktie. Furthermore, Marianne writes to her daughter about the domestic and private lives of their friends and family.

    She is particularly concerned with the chest infection suffered by Edward's daughter Mary and two of Mr Burrows children. She was also sad that Jane Williams was leaving her company, "I am making the most of every moment with aunt today tomorrow I must lose her"
