    Brown Army Book - 64 Soldier's Pay Book for use on Active Service, issued to Lieutenant Leonard John Armstrong, 30 September 1917. Alongside the Record of Cash Payments are 'Instructions to Soldiers', as well as details of Armstrong's Station, Company and Rank. The book includes a section for recording a soldier's Promotions, Appointments, Reductions, and any Casualty affecting the net Daily Rate of Pay, as well as a Short Form Will. Armstrong wrote his Next-of-Kin, Mrs L.J.

    Armstrong, on the last page of the booklet.
