    Photographic postcard from E.J.B to their mother, September 25, 1918. Written to let her know that although he was still in 'the land of the living' they were 'more dead than alive' after being hit with mustard gas. The image of verso is of the First Line Hospital, men on stretchers are in the foreground of a vast open field and a large plume of black smoke rises over the horizon.
