Letter from William Williams to Jane Williams, October 5, 1847

    Following the conclusion of his work with Robert Maunsell, translating the Gospel in to Te reo Maori. Williams writes to his wife regarding his proposition to bring their son James and daughter Maria with him to Turanga. Williams also writes of the Committees decisions regarding the English School. They determined that George Kissling should act as Superintendant, however he declined the position.

    In responce, Williams writes of his desire to start a school in Turanga for the children of that district and goes on to write of how the failing of St John's College impacted Leonard and Henry Williams' desire to enter the church. Later in this letter Williams writes of the encouraging correspondence he received from Edward Gerrard Marsh regarding his health. Finally, Williams writes briefly on the Land Question.
