    1 spiral bound scrapbook containing newspaper clippings reporting on the 1954 New Zealand Alpine Club expedition to the Himalayas. Climbing and mountains around Barun Valley, and ascent of Baruntse. Climbers on the expedition included, George Lowe, Norman Hardie and Michael Ball, Charles Evans, William Beaven, C. J. McFarlane, Geoffrey Harrow Colin Todd and Brian Wilkins.

    The second half of the album contains reports of James MacFarlane's accident on the Barun Glacier and Sir Edmund Hillary's subsequent illness, their return home and recovery.
