    Vincent William Melhuish (20270) was born in 1909, in Wellington. He enlisted in 1939. His occupation prior to enlistment was Radio Technician. He served overseas in Africa before being discharged as medically unfit with asthma in 1943. He died in 1984.
    Morag Melhuish, daughter of Thomas McLean, was working at Alma's Hairdressers at the time the letter was written (1940).
    Thomas McLean was a hotel manager in Aberdeen, Scotland. He emigrated to New Zealand about 1920. His daughter Morag was about 9 years old when the family emigrated. The family initially lived in Devonport, where Thomas McLean worked as a hotel manager. They moved to Brighton Road and then Great South Road, Remuera. [Source: Auckland Museum History Department]
