    9/41 James Philip Guy was born on 5 November 1888, at Kingston, on the shore of Lake Wakatipu. He served with the Otago Mounted Rifles at Gallipoli during World War I, where he was severely wounded on 6 August 1915 [Battle for Chunuk Bair]. He died on 17 December 1956, in Auckland.
