Subject Notes
Malcolm Hahn, QSM, was born in Grey Lynn, Auckland, in 1931, where he married and raised a family of five. An electrical engineer by profession, Hahn and his wife Elaine, a school teacher, went to live beside the Upper Waitemata Harbour at Whenuapai, Waitakere, in 1983, where they became involved in local efforts to protect the enclosed waters of the Upper Harbour from pollution by forming the Guardians of the Upper Harbour group. While studying the history of West Auckland, and in particular the Upper Harbour, Hahn discovered gaps in the records. This work is an attempt to redress those gaps.
