Provenance Details
Provenance: According to MacMaster's daughter, Judith Callander, he did not keep a diary during his service with the 2NZEF. Instead, he hand-wrote his memoirs entirely from memory in the early 1980s after being encouraged to do so by family members. The memoirs were then typed by Callander's daughter during the Christmas holiday periods of 1992 and 1993. It is possible MacMaster may have verified some dates and names of places from W.E. Murphy's "2nd New Zealand Divisional Artillery". [see also email communication between Judith Callander and Martin R. Collett, Manuscripts Librarian, dated 15 March 2006, filed under 'Callander, J.' in correspondence folder 3844-06, January - December 2006]
