    Royal Engineers Christmas card, 1916 - 1917 (30 cm) and envelope, sent from Alfred Thurlow Leeds (4/1293) to Mrs M.L. Leeds. Illustration on card is by W. Heath Robinson and features a British and German tunneller meeting underground. Caption reads "Tunneller (embarassed by the sudden encounter): "Er-er-third return 'Ammersmith, please!." ". Printed text on card reads "With the Seasons Greetings From Inspector of Mines and Staff. Envelope is addressed to [Mrs M.L.

    Leeds?] 14 Huntly Avenue, Off Kyber Pass, Auckland, New Zealand, and has been re-addressed to [W. Lynfield Matakana?] and 4 Huntly Avenue, Newmarket, Auckland. Envelope is postmarked from the Army Post Office R9 dated 28 December 1916 and has a "Passed Field Censor 2914" stamp.
