  • Subject Notes
Peter Kinder was born in England in July 1915 and came to New Zealand in 1919. He served in the Territorials as a gunner with the Royal Artillery before transferring to the RNZAF in March 1941. Flying Officer Peter Kinder was stationed in Malaya as a RNZAF officer just before Japan's entry into Word War II, and was among the last to leave this theatre of war after the fall of Singapore. On his return to New Zealand, he was posted to Gisborne, and on 8 December 1942, while on a mission to locate an unidentified merchant ship off the Wairarapa coast, his aircraft was reported missing.
