Provenance: Item was found in a box labelled "Ex-Malacology Department", returned from offsite storage in March, 2008. It appears to have been originally part of the Zoology Department collections (Mr A.W.B. Powell).
Subject Notes
John Buchanan, F.L.S., botanist, artist and draughtsman, was born on 13 October 1819, at Levenside, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He emigrated to New Zealand on 2 July 1851 per the barque 'Columbus', arriving at Port Chalmers in February, 1852. He died on 18 October 1898, at Wellington, aged 79.
