Copy of letter from Mrs V.E. Bush to Director. 29/1/1959. (Kept with painting): " Dear Sir, I have a picture of the camp established by the Permanent Forces in the Urewera Country 1895. The picture was painted by a fellow soldier of my late husband Warrant Officer George Bush. I do not know the artist's name, only that he was a companion of my husband's, when they were sent to quell a threatened Maori uprising in the Urewera Country ... Yours faithfully, (Mrs) Vivien E.

    Bush."
