Walter Wright exhibited landscape paintings in oils and watercolour at the Auckland Society of Arts between 1888 and 1929. Wright resided in Arthur St, Ponsonby, and was on the faculty of Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland. Two watercolours were exhibited with the title Mercer on the Waikato, in 1913 (no. 221) and 1917 (no 212). Both were valued at £4.
