HOLOTYPE of Veronica propinqua var. major Cockayne; and Hebe propinqua var. major (Cockayne ex Cheeseman) Cockayne & Allan. Incorrectly cited in Fl. N.Z. I: 932 (1961) as AK 50978. Original det. in Cockayne's hand: "Veronica propinqua Cheesem. var. major Cockayne ined. The above name is given for the tall species common in the South Otago bot. district. The type being considered the common prostrate garden plant".
