Forming occasional clumps on rock reef at approximately 10 m depth. Disc holdfast with short rounded stem, flattened above. Main axis and branches compressed, alternately toothed at margins. Primary and secondary branchlets broad, higher order branchlets narrow and smaller. Plant up to 30 cm tall. Large celled medulla and central axial
filament visible in cross section. Northern New Zealand.
