Apart from plantings, wineberry has all but disappeared from the peninsula. Elderly residents say it was once common but none could tell me of natural occurences now. A single seedling spotted during ABS fieldtrip on Sept 2004 had me searching. A population of 3 slender trees, 2 female (see AK294807) 1 male (AK294808) approx 10m high, diameter 15cm occur on the edge of the bush. Several seedlings where stock cannot reach. In flower.
