Old quarry site, abandoned in 2000. Sites with E. microphyllum consist of large, stable greywacke screes with larger fragments mixed with fine gravels and coarse sand. Screes appear to have been compacted to stabilise the area and revegetation is both artificial (planting of Poa and other native coastal species) and natural (largely introduced weed species). This site was originally recorded in 1940, suggesting that the species is native to the area (however it cannot be found at older sites in the quarry or elsewhere along the Wairarapa coast where it is recorded by Raven as being prolific. Habit: low, sprawling herb, round green leaves, capsule greyish, covered with dense grey pubescence. Located very close to a dense cluster of E. microphyllum. Voucher for DNA analysis; MSc thesis, N.
