Along road margin for >20m, native bush margin (only growing 2-3m into the bush), scrambling up native trees (mahoe, mapou, Coprosma grandifolia, ponga) to 2.5m above ground; tall kanuka behind. Originally planted and vegetatively spreading? Long paired pendulous flowers (pinky-red) & flower buds common, young fruit present. Leaves in whorls of 3s and 4s. Apart from some flax clumps, nothing else appeared to be planted. Still flowering since 1 Jul 2006; flowers & pink fruit present; fruit held stiffly out beyond the leaves, capsules to 20mm long x 7mm across.
