    Tree c.8m tall, but only the lower half alive, in gully bottom with other trees surrounded by grazed pasture. Row of trees (now fenced off): Litsea calicaris (x3, 16m tall), pukatea (x2), Syzygium australe (x2), pigeonwood (x1), mahoe, with Cyathea medullaris, Dicksonia squarrosa, supplejack, Carex virgata, Deparia petersenii (abundant), Berberis glaucocarpa & inkweed. Tawa common in forest patch below this one. Flower buds present
