Alpine in fell field on steep gravel slope and boulders at base of small bluff (derived from schist) and on nearby snow bed in an exposed, sunny to shaded situation. Growing with Ranunculus pachyrrhizus, Carex pyrenaica var. cephalotes, Agrostis muscosa, Luzula leptophylla, Raoulia subsericea and Phyllachne rubra
