    Plants to 295cm tall, leaves to 26mm across, lower stem nodes swollen. Large dense clump on open ground amongst rank kikuyu. Occasional black taro in vicinity. Damp but not wet ground (c.30m upstream from raupo wetland).
    Second smaller clump in semi-shade beneath tree ferns by small stream / drain c.12m NE of main clump. Both clumps appear to have been foliar sprayed with herbicide on a repeat visit
