    Common on weathered serpentinite and on pohutukawa roots and trunks (see AK 319345) on those trees growing on boulder chokes in stream bed. Site moderately shaded. Plants dark red-black. This species is easily one of the most common Frullania on the serpentinised zone of North Cape
