Field Collection Notes
Common on serpentinite boulders lying in shaded stream bed. Plants grey-brown to grey-red when fresh. Growing admixed with small tufts of Fissidens capitatus. This Cheilolejeunea is the dominant representative of this genus in stream systems within the serpentinite area of North Cape. Site heavily shaded by a dense Coriaria arborea var. arborea, Myrsine australis, Kunzea ericoides var. linearis, Austroderia splendens, Coprosma macrocarpa subsp. minor, Leptospermum aff. scoparium, and Brachyglottis repanda canopy. Identification confirmed by J.E. Braggins 25.3.2011 who notes 1-2 oil bodies per cell.
