Field Collection Notes
A few mature plants (one flowering - this collection) and numerous seedlings growing on dacitic rubble slope lying beneath a cliff face in ravine. Associated with Poa polyphylla, Asplenium oblongifolium, Asplenium shuttleworthianum, and Lobelia anceps. Flower dark blue-violet when fresh, shortly campanulate, tube bowl-shaped, corolla lobes ovate-acute. Leaves dull yellow green not glossy. Wahlenbergia vernicosa has been collected from Macauley Island before our visit but I did not see it during my visit to the island.
