Uncommon. Growing on the overhanging sides of massive fallen welded scoria and dacitic tuff blocks derived from cliffs forming the gully head. Associated with Lunularia cruciata, Targionia hypophylla, Reboulia hemisphaerica var.australis, Doodia squarrosa, Cheilanthes distans and Asplenium northlandicum.
