Common on dead Cyperus insularis tussock bases overlying scoria blocks. "New to Kermadec Islands, basal lamaina cells not strongly differentiated; upper cells lowly papillose; leaf margins recurved. Voucher for Moss Flora (J.E. Beever notes 14 August 2011)".
