Scarce and very hard to collect safely due to extreme surge crashing into rock face at time of visit to island. Confined to a very small area of basalt lava at extreme low tide mark, within a deep barnacle and Kermadec limpet (Patella kermadecensis) filled crevice. Associated with Porphyra coleana (see K1011 (AK 327418)). Thallus when fresh basally pale purple to purple pink, distal portions bleached white. +Sigel
