    Saxicolous on massive basalt boulders especially on the more exposed sides revealed at extreme low tide. Also associated in places with a tough, pendulous amber-brown alga (see K1024 (AK 327450)) and another allied (possibly a young state of it) form (see K1025 (AK 327452)). Thallus when fresh light golden brown, rather rubbery, pliant and rigid, leaves rather coarse.
