Saxicolous on basalt lava exposed at extreme low tide. Rather scarce and very difficult to collect due to rapidly rising tide and heavy surge operating near shore. Thallus pink when fresh, held erect when in the water, resembling, minute, furry sausages. The same alga is also present in the Northern Kermadec Island Group (see AK 327412 and AK 327439).
