Corticolous on the branches of Phyllocladus aff. trichomandoides trees growing on serpentinite boulders in a small canopy gap on the margins of an otherwise dense pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) - houpara (Pseudopanax aff. lessonii) - karaka (Corynocarpus laevigatus) forest overlying a steep talus slope.
