Common. Corticolous on the trunk and branches of planted Metrosideros collina 'Thomasii' shrubs in resort garden. Specimens with perianths. Growing in association with Frullania sp. (see AK 328932). "Stylus of one cell, specimen with male branches and perianths, oil bodies 15-20 per cell, sub-spherical, some granular not coloured, clustered at centre of cell" J. E. Braggins notes 24 November 2011.
