Uncommon. No mature vines seen - only dead ones killed it seems by salt water and wind burn caused by the passage of Cyclone Bune on 28 March 2011. Only noted as seedlings and very young plants. On this island Canavalia seemed mostly restricted to areas where Kermadec petrel (Pterodroma neglecta) roost or nest.
