In dense kauri (Agathis australis) - rawiri (Kunzea ericoides var. linearis) - monoao (Halocarpus kirkii) - totara (Podocarpus cunninghamii and P. totara var. totara) - rimu (Dacrydium cupressinum) forest. Cortciolous on rimu bark. Growing admixed with Harpalejeunea filicuspis (see AK 329706), Cheilolejeunea sp., Cololejeunea falcidentata (see AK 329708) and other Frullania spp. In this sample Frullania chevalieri was the dominant liverwort.
