New Zealand, North Island, Napier - Taupo highway, Lake Pouarua, at turnoff with Matea Rd, about 9 km SE of Rangitaiki

Field Collection Notes
Ephemerally dry wetland on the western side of the highway, little standing water at this time, some areas boggy underfoot. Dracophyllum dominated scrubs with large areas of turf & meadows of Cyperaceae, Poaceae & Juncaceae. A floristic wonderland conducive to prolonged periods of lateral botanising. Associated species include Lobelia spp., Caltha novae-zelandiae, Dichondra brevifolia, Hypericum ?minutiflorum, Gonocarpus spp., Drosera pygmaeum, Drosera binata, Myriophyllum pedunculatum subsp. novaezelandiae, Lachnagrostis striata, Selliera sp., Juncus spp. & Lepidosperma australe. NB: A shallow lake on the eastern side of the highway has Gratiola ?concinna, possibly Juncus holoschoenus (or similar taxon) & Limosella lineata!
