Locally common. Growing at the southern summit and south-eastern slopes of North Chanter under Kermadec ngaio (Myoporum rapense subsp. kermadecense). Foliage bright green, stems green. Stems unarmed. Flowers borne in pseudoumbels, larger than S. nodiflorum plants seen on this island. Fruits larger than those seen on associated S. nodiflorum with accrescent, appressed calyces (reflexing slightly in press on return to New Zealand), dull black, not glossy, stone cells absent in rehydrated fruit (29 March 2015).
