Uncommon. Growing on the basal trunk of Kermadec pohutukawa (Metrosideros kermadecensis) in summit forest. Only seen in once place. Fronds narrower than usual by comparison with specimens of this species from the Meyer and Raoul Islands. Identification confirmed by P. J. Brownsey 1 April 2015.
