Field Collection Notes
Large colony of century plant located on steep north-facing greywacke outcrop between Waikarapupu Bay and Rakino Point, opposite Rakino Island. Located 7masl, covering an area of c. 10m x 10m. Largest rosettes 1m x 1m, abundant juveniles. Dense clumps of multiple plants, and others singluarly scattered across slope. Spreading vegetatively, no old flower spikes seen. Growing amongst Centranthus ruber, Muehlenbeckia complexa and coastal grasses. Newly discovered, single known infestation on Motutapu. Recorded on Rangitoto previously. Recorded on the south east coast of Rangitoto (DoC) in the past.
