    New Zealand, South Island, Molesworth Station, Crimea Range, small remnant tarns on gently sloping area to north of ridgeline

  • Field Collection Notes
    Common clump-forming grass in dense, low turf in alpine bog around tarns. Densely intertwined with bryophytes and amongst Oreobolus pectinatus dominant on margins of open water. Also associated with Carpha alpina, Luzula leptophylla and [AEW 14696] Deschampsia chapmanii.
    Tufts of leaves only just emerging from turf, mid-green, flowering heads reddish-brown, erect, spreading.
