    V. tall, spreading tree, Ht ca 20+m, dbh 58.5cm. Bark dark brown, deeply vertically ridged. Ends mid-brown, finely hairy. Lvs stiff, upper mid-green, coarse to touch with short stubby hairs, underside paler, softer with hairs in tufts in veins. Base of leaf uneven, curled. Dark brown, hairy bud in leaf axil.
    Sunny, on Nth side of tall trees.
    Wych elm, Scotch elm.
