Description: More. Waist garment. The waistband consists of bundles of fau (hibisbus fibres) wrapped and knotted around a base made of fau strands. The waistband is decorated with a row of brown coloured poreho (cowrie shells) with white speckles, and interwoven using strands of fau. There is a decorative criss-cross pattern, formed using strips of fau, interwoven across the waistband. A row of red seeds (Adenanthera pavonina, Red-bead tree seeds), are bored and threaded onto nylon wire, and are interwoven across the perimeter of the poreho and the criss-cross pattern. A row of white/pale blue coloured pipi seeds (Job's Tears, Coix lacryma-jobi) are also bored and strung onto nylon wire, and are also interwoven across the perimeter of the criss-cross pattern. There are five clusters of three poreho, brown in colour with white speckles, interwoven across the criss-cross pattern, using strips of fau.
