Sisi
Description: Sisi. Woven garland adornment. This large size neck adornment is lightweight, and woven from vau (hibiscus fibre) of natural and multicoloured hues. It consists of a thickly tali tolu (3-ply) braided cord of vau, finished off at each end in knotted tassels, onto which 'rows' of woven coloured flower rosettes of purple, yellow, red, and green are attached. Additional streamers of turquoise, purple, red and yellow pieces embellish the rosettes. The final 'rows' of fibre are three tiers of natural fibre attached in a ribboned effect across the length of the adornment. The sisi is wide enough to span a person's chest and tie comfortably around the back of the neck.
