Kitu Qele
Description: Saqa Tamata. Water jar, shaped into a human head and spherical body, also a base for the form to stand on, all made from low-fired qele (clay). Human head formed from qele with eyes, nose, prominent chin (though chipped), ears and top knot doubling as an i gaga (spout) for water's egress. Circular orifice at the centre of the vessel. Dark brown mottled colour. Glazed with makadre (gum/resin of the dakua tree). No further decorative elements.
