Letter from Marianne Williams to Marianne Davies, May 25, 1850

documentary heritage
  • Description

Regarding Henry Williams dismissal from the Church Missionary Society, a decision, in Marianne's opinion, was decided in love and mercy. She goes on to say "We were taken by surprise at last. Your Uncle Marsh had led us to believe the storm had passed over. I am angry with myself." She also describes the moment Williams has told his family (John, Thomas, Kate, and Lydia) the news. Furthermore, Marianne writes of how busy she was preparing the family to leave Paihia.
