documentary heritage
  • Description

Contains photocopied material. Letter (photocopy) from Harry Norton, B Company, 7th Reinforcements, Trentham Military Camp, New Zealand, to his wife, dated 14 July 1915. (3 leaves plus envelope)

The following extracts are taken from pages 1 and 3:

    [Page 1]

"I am very well & have just spent the evening walking about with Mr Cashmale, he & I seem to get on so well together, we hunt each other up every evening & have a chat for a couple of hours, we are good friends indeed. We go over our experiences for the day & have a good laugh & joke.

    [Page 2]

I know what a lot you will try to do, but just remember me. Sweetheart, I often wish you were a man so that I could have you beside me all day long. I think such a lot about you especially at eventide & 10 oclock [o'clock] at night & wonder what you are doing & the children, cuddle them for me & tell them Daddy is thinking of them."
