  • Description

Contains photocopied material. Letter (photocopy) from Harry Norton, B Company, 7th Reinforcements, Trentham Military Camp, New Zealand, to his wife, dated 24 June 1915. (2 leaves)

    The text reads as follows:

    "Dearest

You are doing well with 2 letters a day aren't you? Well you know dear I am always thinking of you and I am not sure if I will come Saturday or Sunday but I will write.

It has been wet today so we did not drill but had lectures and we were nice & dry & warm and my throat is fine and the cold gone.

I hope dear you are well again and we will have a good chat soon now. I won't forget to hurry home as fast as I can and I am longing to see you all again, and have a jolly tea again.

We got our second lot of clothes and get our rifles tomorrow. We got paid on Wednesday so what ho.

Well dear love good night & God bless you all

    All my love to you

from your Soldier Husband & Daddy

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Softly the night is falling.

You will be proud of me when I get my uniform"
