    46117 Private Leslie ('Les') Noel Taylor was born on 26 December 1919 at Auckland, New Zealand. He spent 3 years serving with 36 Battalion in the Pacific from 1941 to 1943 before being invalided home to New Zealand with malaria. He was one of a group who returned to Vella Lavella Island after the war to build a school at Supato village. Les Taylor died on 5 October 2007.
