Inscription on verso reads: "Dear Jane, I think it is your turn to get the postcards this time. These are views of our camp at Hornchurch. The views are not extra good but are the best obtainable. Before the war this estate was occupied by a certain Colonel. He has given the use of it to the military authorities during the war. This was the first camp occupied by New Zealanders in England. The main camp was afterwards shifted to sling and this became the Convalescent Hospital. This main building is a hospital and most of us have nothing whatever to do with it." [sic]
