Caption on verso reads: "A drink to a wounded Turk. Here is seen a small act of kindness which is nevertheless impressive since it stands out in sharp contrast to the actualities of the war. The climatic conditions of the Gallipoli Peninsula are most trying. Water is scarce and hardships innumerable, but the British soldier still stands by his tradition, and is ever ready to relieve the sufferings of his enemies whenever an opportunity occurs."
