Subject Notes
J. D. Richardson was born at Clevedon in 1877. His family moved to Devonport shortly afterwards and he attended school there and later at the Auckland Grammar School. He joined the Auckland Savings Bank as a clerk in 1893. After being stationed at several branches he was appointed to the Newton Branch in 1922 where he remained until his retirement in 1938. At the instigation of the City Librarian John Barr, he undertook record photography for the Auckland City Council. After his retirement he was, for a short while, honorary photographer at the Auckland War Memorial Museum
